Fiji Consumers Pay More For Petrol

Fiji Consumers will have to fork our more from their budget as the petrol prices has been increased by almost 5 cents.

COMMERCE Commission chairman Dr Mahendra Reddy has announced a change in fuel, gas and steel prices.Consumers can expect an increase in motor spirit by five cents now costing $2.58 per litre.

Premix will now cost $2.54 per litre an increase by seven cents.There is no change in the price of kerosene and diesel has seen a decrease of two cents per litre.These prices will come into effect on Tuesday.

NZ parliament to vote on Condemnation of Fiji Police Brutality

The New Zealand Parliament will next week vote on a cross-party motion condemning the brutality shown in a video of the treatment suffered by a pair of escaped prisoners in Fiji.

Sponsored by the opposition Labour Party spokesman on foreign affairs Phil Goff, who is a former New Zealand foreign minister, it will call on the interim Fiji government to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Young Girls Mostly Targeted for Local Human Trafficking in Fiji

Girls between the ages of 12 to 18 years are mostly targeted for human trafficking within Fiji. This is according to the Human Trafficking Unit. Speaking at the Police Symposium in Nasova, CID officer Aminiasi Cula said the market for young girls is between Suva and Nadi.

Fiji Times Fined $300000 for Printing NZ Story

Fiji's main daily paper has been fined F$300,000 (NZ$201,000) and its editor jailed for six months for reprinting a New Zealand Sunday Star-Times story which said there were no independent courts in the military ruled nation. In the 2011 story, Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) general secretary Tai Nicholas, 44, commented on legal issues involving Fiji football.

4-year-6-month-old Girl Allegedly Raped in Fiji

Yet another shocking case has come to light where a 4-year-6-month-old girl was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old in Tavua. The alleged incident occurred between 3am to 5am yesterday.
